If you have a third morning
Lusail Boulevard and the stadium, or camel racing at Al Shahaniya if it is a Friday or Saturday in season. Both are covered in our three-day itinerary.
Budget for the two days
- Desert safari: $60 shared / $260 private (up to 6).
- Dhow cruise: $35.
- National Museum: QAR 50 (~$14).
- Metro and taxis: ~$15.
- Meals at the souq and Katara: $15–30 per meal.
- Everything else on the list is free.
Where to stay for this plan
Souq Waqif's boutique hotels put day one on your doorstep and the metro two minutes away; West Bay's business hotels are 10 minutes from everything by taxi and on the Red Line; The Pearl is a resort base 20 minutes out. For two days, the souq or Msheireb (Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt) wins on time saved.
Swaps and alternatives
- Tuesday: MIA and the National Museum are closed — swap in Katara, Msheireb (also closed Tuesday — check) and Lusail, and do museums on the other day.
- Friday morning: the souq opens at 4 pm; start with the museums and do the souq in the evening.
- Summer: move the safari to dawn on day two and do the museums in the heat of the afternoon.
- Rain (rare): the dhow still sails unless it is windy; the safari runs — wet sand is fast and fun.
