What to skip (honestly)

  • A second mall unless it is 45°C outside.
  • The 'Doha Zoo' — closed for redevelopment for years.
  • Long drives to 'see' Al Wakrah stadium — impressive on TV, a car park in person unless there is a match.
  • Paid 'desert viewpoints' that stop short of the Inland Sea.

Seasonal extras

October to April: camel racing, Katara's festivals, National Day (18 December), the Doha Jewellery show, Formula 1 at Lusail (late November) and the Qatar International Food Festival. Summer: the Qatar Summer Festival in the malls, dawn safaris and night cruises. Ramadan (2027: February–March): iftar tents and the souq at midnight.
